GLINT believes in the dignity and equality of all human beings. We believe that empowering youths and women results into advancement towards building a firm foundation for positive change and society growth

History

Africa has experienced lots of turbulent, violent and even uncertain history. At the turn of 21st century, Africa started to experience increased GDP growth and economic prospects were aroused. In as much as the economic indicators were factual, they did not represent the true picture of today’s realities in Africa. Furthermore, the youths have brunt most of the burden in these conflicts as because of wasted years and lost opportunities. Therefore, some young people whom wanted to create transformative changes decided to join resources together and establish Global Initiatives for Youth Transformation (GLINT). These visionary, noble and optimistic Nigerians were passionate on the malign development going on in Africa especially amongst the youths. GLINT is duly a registered Nigeria Non Governmental Organisation primarily to ameliorate the sufferings of youths and women while working to build dignified lives. We hope to reach and serve youths and women across the African continent that is is dire need of combating violence against women and girls, increasing entrepreneurship, engaging with unjust structures and systems and advocating for better inclusiveness in decision making.

Fortunately, GLINT’s initiatives are geared towards increasing the livelihood and welfare of youths and women, bringing hope and sustainable transformation to depressed and vulnerable population.

GLINT recognizes the multi faith and pluralist nature of African societies and will work with people from various faiths and no faith. We do not discriminate based on any identity but rather encourages youths and women to remain authentic to their beliefs and thought processes.

MANAGEMENT
I started the journey of GLINT as the “initiator” and works with a great team to deliver quality programming for vulnerable youths and women. I remain astonished as to how GLINT have evolved as an organization and impact that we have made over the years. GLINT in collaboration with other organisation have conducted researches on women and youths rights’ with emphasis on some African cultures been practiced in Nigeria. The researches resulted in deeper understanding of certain issues such as the “Money woman/ girl” where young females are sold by their parents even before birth. Another culture is narrow analyses of violent conflict simply blaming youths for all acts of conflict. There are more to be done in other to transform the mindset and build systems that foster “warfare to welfare” attitudes, behaviours, practices and structures. I cherish the work of GLINT because of the inherent values – passion, boldness/ courage and innovation. The desire to transform unjust systems and structures keeping youths and women vulnerable and exploited.
Personally, my connection with GLINT is beyond the organization, it is an opportunity to express deep desire of working with youths and women, helping to accelerate innovative solutions that positively transforms individuals and communities.
GLINT’s dream is to contribute and work innovatively as well as distinctively towards a just, peaceful African society where citizens enjoy lives enriched with welfare systems.
